About Dr. Ray Delaney
Dr. Raymond Delaney is a veteran of the United States Army and the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Department. Ray was born in New Orleans to a young mother who worked multiple jobs to make ends meet. His mother taught him the values of faith, hard work, and integrity. These values inspired Ray to serve his country as a Specialist in the Army and as an Orleans Parish Sheriff Deputy. These values also led him to run for Louisiana State Representative in the 82nd District.
Ray’s focus has been on public safety, criminal justice, and community engagement for nearly two decades. He works as a Professor of Criminal Justice at Southern University New Orleans. Previously, he contracted with the Federal Bureau of Prisons to provide support and treatment to formerly incarcerated individuals with special needs. This work reduced recidivism, over-incarceration, and wasteful government spending.
Jefferson Parish isn’t just where Ray lives. It is his home. As a business owner, he is invested in the community. As a mentor, Ray is invested in the people that live here. Ray believes that we have more in common than divides us. From Elmwood to Metairie, we all want a thriving economy and a safe neighborhood where we can raise a family. As the next Representative of the 82nd district in the Louisiana House of Represenatives, Ray will bring people together to build a safer, stronger community for all.
